Theme parks for health

Theme parks are a great way to spend a fun day out but did you know that there are health benefits to spending a day at a theme park? Yes, that’s right, theme parks can contribute to your health as well as being a fun experience. So here are a list of the health benefits attending a theme park can offer:

  • On average, a day at a theme park can rack up your step count to an average of around 10 to 12,000 steps for a medium sized theme park (around 100 hectares or 1,000,000 Sq. metres).
  • Your body actually burns off calories while you are riding the rides through the rush and excitement of being on the rides.
  • It helps to improve your mood – I mean, who doesn’t have fun at a theme park?
  • Provides adrenaline and endorphin rushes, which is great for feeling good in yourself.
  • It can improve your blood circulation and heart strength.
  • It can help you to overcome fears.
  • It has a good social element to it and can strengthen bonds between family and friends.
  • It relieves stress.
  • Being on fast roller coasters can provoke a muscle response which in turn helps with toning.

As you can see, theme parks can have beneficial effects towards your overall wellbeing, so have a think about going to a theme park for the next day out you are planning.

Last week I took my dog for a walk outdoors for the first time in nearly 2 years, previously I did not have the confidence or the ability to go for a walk with my dog, due to poor balance and fear of falling.
