With New Year resolutions on the mind, we can bet that many of us are setting off on a new health journey of eating healthier and exercising to shift some weight.
While a lot of these resolves fizzle a few weeks or months into the effort, this hasn’t been the case for many of Southend’s residents who have shed a whopping 5-10% of their body weight within 12 weeks on Everyone Health Southend’s Adult Weight Management programme.
85% of participants reported losing between 5-10% of their body weight over the free 12-week programme, funded by Southend-on-Sea City Council, which gives participants personalised support to help them achieve and maintain a healthy weight, improve their diet and increase their activity levels.
Delivered by expert Physical Activity Specialists and Nutritionists across Southend, the programme focuses on a balanced approach to weight loss and has been designed to help participants develop healthy and sustainable habits for life.
Participants can supercharge their weight loss at the 12-week group programme which features weekly 45-minute nutrition workshops to provide you with a host of nutritional advice and knowledge to make better food choices, in addition to 45-minutes of physical activity where you can explore different types of exercise to find the movement you enjoy.
One participant, a 56-year-old man, dropped almost 30 pounds and lost 12cm from his waist in just 4 months after joining the programme and still regularly enjoys his all-time favourite peanut butter and banana bagels whilst losing weight!
If the 12-week programme isn’t for you, then you may find success with one of Everyone Health Southend’s partners, Slimming World or Weight Watchers, which Everyone Health offers 12-weeks of free access to.
Joanna Freeman, Service Manager, has said: “I am so proud of each and every person who has made a healthy change to their life with our services. With type 2 diabetes on the rise in the UK, it has never been more important that we provide people with the correct support to make lifestyle changes so they can lead a happy, healthy and long life.”
