What’s in season this November

Feel that chill in the air? Winter is coming. Luckily for us though, there is still an array of fresh fruit and veg in season that we can throw into our dishes to banish the cold winter blues.

Keep reading to discover the freshest (and cheapest!) ingredients to add to your shopping lists this November.

Sweet potatoes

Craving a taste of autumn? Serve this super root veg in curries, soups, and stews – or you can turn them into mash or fries, the possibilities are endless! We’re going to be adding ours to this spiced chicken, spinach and sweet potato stew.

Pears

Red cabbage

It’s a staple on Christmas Day, but why wait until then to enjoy it? It works well in a slow-cooker dish, but it’s vibrant colour and crunch makes it perfect to add into your winter salads.

Broccoli

There’s no excuses to not get your greens in now it’s broccoli season! Broccoli’s versatility means it can be steamed, boiled or roasted, and served in a range of tasty dishes from pasta and noodles, to soups and salads. Satsumas and tangerines

Beat the winter cold with a vitamin C fix from these citrus fruits! Perfect for lunchboxes and easy snacks, these juicy fruits are also worth cooking with.

Parsnips

Not just for roasts, this classic British winter veg works just as well in a variety of warming dishes like casseroles and stews. Did you know that parsnips can also be used as a substitute for potatoes? Why not try your hand at turnip and butternut squash mash with this recipe here.
